Recently a friend invited me to a traditional Afternoon Tea ceremony. Browsing the photos of the venue, The Ritz hotel, I had a feeling of travelling in time to Jane Austen times when the afternoon tea was just becoming popular and was an important social engagement. But what should you wear to afternoon tea at the Ritz? A cocktail dress? A conservative suit? Or as in a lot of places nowadays the dress code is abandoned and everybody just wears casual?
Apparently, the hotel has a prescribed dress code for Afternoon tea in the Palm Court and for lunch and dinner in the Ritz Restaurant. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie. Jeans are not permitted for either ladies or gentlemen. Not very specific for ladies, is it? So I continued searching for style inspiration on Pinterest but the outfit ideas that came up had again very different feel and style.
I ended up wearing an asymmetric blue midi dress with medium heel shoes. My Vibrations of Blue Scarf added a unique touch to the outfit bringing it more in line with the chic and elegant surroundings of the venue.
1. Elegant and Modern in Dark Bronze
I love everything about this Reiss dress. It has that modern and elegant feel that makes it stand out among other dresses straight away. The colour is somewhere between khaki and bronze. The dress goes just above the knee that makes it perfect with Alexandre Birman Macrame Shoes. The Musical Composition Scarf adds a bit of brightness and artistic touch to the whole outfit. 2. Bright and Feminine in White and Burgundy
With this asymmetric jersey skirt by J.W.Anderson, you are destined to catch admiring looks of everybody around. The white frill sleeve top and classic pumps add a romantic touch to the look. The whole outfit looks bright and feminine and sets the mood for a lovely afternoon. Click on the little product icons below for the details of each item.
3. Classic and Bold in Terracotta
This outfit looks especially great having the luxury golden and white setting of the Ritz hotel in the background. The terracotta midi dress by WTR is classic and bold the same time. The high heel Dsquared2 pumps and the Musical Composition Scarf complement the theatrical look of the dress. Click on the little product icons below for the details of each item.
